Gymnastics: Irish sweep Bloomington
The Rosemount gymnastics team maintained its spot atop the South Suburban Conference with a sweep of Bloomington Jefferson and Kennedy last Tuesday in Rosemount. The Irish scored 139.9 points as they moved to 5-0 in the league.
Jefferson defeated Kennedy, 121.925-100.675.
Seventh-grader Josey Schlie once again paced the winners in the all-around with a score of 36.3. She won the vault (9.4), uneven bars and floor exercise (personal best of 9.6) and placed second to teammate Abby Nelson in the balance beam.
Shannon McCoy placed second in the all-around (34.875) thanks to a runner-up score of 9.225 in the floor exercise and third-place finishes in the other three events.
Nelson added to her beam title with a third-place finish in the floor exercise and a fourth-place effort in the vault. She was third in the all-around with a 34.375.
Meghan Creese added a second-place score of 9.325 in the vault. Kailey Askew turned in a runner-up finish in the bars and Jenna Schlukebier was fourth in the floor exercise.
The Irish close out their SSC road schedule over the next week. They traveled to Lakeville North Tuesday and are at Lakeville South next Tuesday.
