A deep and talented collection of conference teams pushed Rosemount back in the pack in the girls' portion of the South Suburban Conference Relays last Tuesday in Prior Lake.
The host Lakers won the meet with 1,790 1/2 points, followed by Lakeville South, Lakeville North, Eastview and Eagan in the top five. The Irish finished just off the pace of Burnsville in eighth place with 1,084 points.
Most of the Irish's depth showed itself in the hurdle races. Returning all-state hurdler Rachel Schow won both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, in times of 15.22 seconds and 47.21 seconds, respectively, and teammate Ellie Vraa was close behind in fifth place in both races. Renae Otto joined in with a 10th-place effort in the 100 hurdles.
Schow and Vraa also joined Josie French and Daria Cathey for the Irish's highest relay finish, a third-place showing in the 4x200. French contributed a third-place run of her own in the 100 with a time of 13.03.
Another third-place finish came in the discus where Katie Duff spun 126-8. Teammate Molly Gruenke added a 10th-place showing.
Liz Evenocheck led the Rosemount distance crew with a fifth-place time of 5:23 in the 1,600. Teammate Haley Polk was fifth in the long jump and 10th in the triple jump.
Abigail Monn cracked the top 10 in the shot put with a seventh-place toss of 32-11.
