Girls track: Irish place in three events
All three events the Rosemount girls sent to the Class 2A state meet made it to the podium over the weekend in St. Paul.
“She was in first up until that point,” Rosemount coach Sara Hatleli said.
In the 300 hurdles, Schow hit a few hurdles and got spiked while settling for a seventh-place time of 46.36.
“The 300 hurdles race was her sixth race in two days and she gave it her all, but the race just didn’t go in her favor,” Hatleli said. “I think next year she will be ready to be back on that podium as a champion at the state meet.”
Schow’s schedule was made busier by her appearances as part of the Irish 4x100 relay. The foursome of Schow, seniors Kailey Askew and Marisa Knott and sophomore Josie French wound up seventh in the finals with a time of 49.79.
“We were proud of the kids,” Hatleli said. “We haven’t had a 4x100 at the state meet in a long time, so the fact that they made it to state and then on to finals is awesome.”
The three Rosemount events totaled 16 points, good for 11th among the 64 point-scoring teams in Class 2A.
