Rosemount used a clean sweep of Bloomington Jefferson to cap off a 15-3 season in the South Suburban Conference last Wednesday afternoon at the Rosemount High School courts.

The mark was good enough for fourth in the league behind champion Prior Lake, Eagan and Lakeville North. The Irish drew the No. 3 seed behind Eagan and North in the section tournament, which gets under way this week. They will likely host a second-round match this afternoon at RHS.

"We had a great season," Rosemount coach Dana Beck said. "We are getting geared up for the beginning of team sections... I believe we have a good shot at going to the finals if we play well and keep up our high level of play."

The Irish's top doubles players continued their high levels of play against Jefferson. Virginia Norder led the way with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 1 singles and Kirsten Hoffman won by the same score at No. 4 singles. Ally Baker and Mariah McGivern also breezed in singles wins.

Layna Mestad and Abby Kohagen teamed up for a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 1 doubles and Rachel Hoffman and Rachel Olson rolled, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles. Megan and Emily Harrington completed the sweep with a 7-6, 6-2 decision at No. 2 doubles.

All three Rosemount doubles teams were victorious last Monday against Glencoe-Silver Lake, as well.

Mestad and Kohagen wrapped up the 6-1 team win with a marathon 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (11-9) match at No. 1 doubles. The Harringtons added a lengthy 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles and Olson and Team Rachel (Hoffman and Olson) got plenty of R and R in a 6-1, 6-1 win.

In singles play, Norder, Baker and Kirsten Hoffman all secured quick victories.
