Girls soccer: Irish start off season 2-0

The Rosemount girls soccer team is perfect through its first two games this season.

The Irish scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-0 shutout of Esko in the season’s first game Aug. 22. Carly Dawson, Marie Griffith, Samantha Leininger and Corrine Seehusen scored for the Irish.

Goalkeeper Jessica Ojala made four saves to preserve the shutout.

Two days later at Hermantown Ojailal was again perfect in net, stopping four shots as the Irish earned a 3-0 win. All three goals came in the second half.

Leininger, Seehusen and Kylee Carr scored for the Irish.

Rosemount played at Jefferson Monday night.

Rosemount’s next game is at 3 p.m. Aug. 28 against East Ridge at Dakota County Technical College.
