Girls hockey: Lightning slip past Irish, 4-3
The Rosemount girls hockey team overcame a 2-0 deficit against Eastview last Tuesday night, but eventually saw its losing streak stretch to four games after a 4-3 loss at Rosemount Community Center.
Marie Griffith got the Irish (3-8-2) on the board with a goal (assist to Alex Malecha) 9:59 into the second period. Five minutes later, Kendra Goodrich scored on the power play (assist to Lauren Riley) to tie the score at 2-2.
The game remained tied until Eastview scored what turned out to be the game-winner 3:47 into the third period. It was 4-2 Lightning by the time Riley found the net (assists from Amanda Comstock and Taylor Sampson) with four seconds left.
Goaltender Lauren Topor finished with 16 saves for Rosemount.
The Irish are in action this week at the Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic in Farmington. They advanced to the winner's bracket with a victory Tuesday over Sartell-Saint Stephen.
