Girls Golf: First in county, fourth in Lake

Rosemount coaches have long contended that playing in the Lake Conference tends to skew results.

More often than not, unless the Irish are one of the top teams, the records would be a bit better if Rosemount was placed in a different conference.

But, the Irish are in the ultra-competitive Lake Conference, and the Rosemount girls golf team saw this past week just what the difference can be.

Playing in the Dakota County girls golf championships last Friday at Emerald Greens, the Irish placed first out of 12 Dakota County teams.

On Monday at Phalen Golf Course, Rosemount placed fourth in the Lake Conference tournament.

The Irish also placed fourth in the conference during the regular season with a 7-3 record.

In the final conference regular season standings, Burnsville won the team title with a 9-1 record and an average of 163.5 points.

Rosemount shot an average of 180 during the season.

Senior Becca Eggers was the top Irish individual, placing eighth in the conference with an average of 43.2. Amanda Northwick averaged a 45.8, the conference's 21st best scoring mark. Betsy Wallin also made the top-25, tying for 25th with a 46.8.

At Monday's conference tournament, Rosemount placed fourth with a combined score of 357. Burnsville won the competition with a 327.

Lakeville North posted a 340 and Eastview hit a combined 352.

Junior Emily Holtz led the way in the tournament for the Irish with an 85 to place eighth. Molly Flynn was right behind in ninth place with an 86.

Northwick finished with a 91, and Eggers added a 95.

Eggers had her game going at the Dakota County meet last week though. Eggers was tied for first individually with an 82.

Northwick tied for third in the meet with a round of 86. Caitlin Hanson added another top-10 with an 89, finishing in a tie for ninth.

Wallin carded a 93, good for a tie for 14th place.
