Grim, competing in her fourth straight state meet, surged to the front quarter of the pack early on with an opening mile of 5:39 before settling for a 15:14 clocking on the hilly 4,000-meter course.

"Hannah got out and competed. Her goal was all-state honors and she put herself in position to accomplish that goal," Rosemount coach Chris Harder said. "She faded a little in the second half of the race, but she kept working all the way to the finish line."

Grim fell to 122nd last year at state after placing 86th and 28th, respectively, the previous two years. The junior hopes to compete alongside her teammates at state next year, as she did in 2009 and 2010 when the Irish achieved back-to-back 10th-place finishes.

"She really wants to advance with the team," Harder said. "We feel we have the girls coming back plus a strong middle school program to make that goal a reality."

Wayzata won the Class 2A girls team race 50-93 over runner-up Eagan. South Suburban Conference teams Lakeville South (6th), Prior Lake (11th) and Lakeville North (15th) also competed.
