Girls basketball: Grim, Irish shoot past Blaze

Last-place Burnsville was a welcome sight on the schedule for a Rosemount girls basketball team mired in a six-game losing streak.

The Irish shot 46 percent from the floor and ended their slide with a 63-57 win last Tuesday in Burnsville.

Sophomore Hannah Grim was once again the team's go-to scorer, dropping 29 points on 12 of 22 shooting. She also grabbed seven of the team's 18 steals.

Hannah Halterman added nine points and five assists and Ellie Vraa scored nine points and grabbed four steals. Megan Schuster hauled in a team-high six rebounds and Laura Dennis added five boards and three blocked shots.

The Irish (7-11) were back on the road Friday night when they scored just eight points in the second half of a 67-24 setback at Lakeville North.

The 24 points was a season low, as was the Irish's seven total field goals.

Grim was held eight below her season average. She scored a team-high 11 points. Kaylie Hanson tacked on six points.

Grim and Hanson each had six of the team's 25 turnovers.

Laura Dennis led the team with five rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots.

The Irish traveled to Apple Valley Tuesday and return home tomorrow night to take on Bloomington Jefferson at Irish Gym.
