Gerlach leads, Schouweiler in a close race for county commission (11:44 p.m.)
Rosemount will also have two unfamiliar faces -- sort of -- representing the city on the Dakota County Board of Commissioners. With 18,545 votes counted Tuesday Gerlach was leading Victoria Swanson 11,198 to 7,248 for the county commissioner seat in District 7. That district includes a narrow sliver of Rosemount's west side.
Things were significantly closer Tuesday in District 4, where incumbent Nancy Schouweiler led challenger Bill Klein 11,666 to 11,490 with 23,261 votes counted. District 4, which covers most of Rosemount, was created this year by redistricting. Rosemount's former county commissioner, Will Branning, did not seek another term.
Things get a little more familiar in the U.S. House race, where incumbent Republican John Kline appears to have won a close race over Democratic challenger Mike Obermueller. Minnesota Public Radio called the race for Kline with 75 percent of votes counted and Kline leading 122,476 to 106,642. In Dakota County voting Kline led 84,443 to 75,377 with 80 percent of votes counted.
