Flint Hills refinery will conduct a controlled burn
There will be smoke in the air Wednesday afternoon near Highway 52, but it's not a reason to panic.
Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend refinery will conduct a controlled burn starting at 4:30 p.m. April 4 on some prairie land near one of its administration buildings. The smoke may be visible from the highway.
The burn will be overseen by local and state DNR officials as well as by Flint Hills, which owns 1,300 acres in the Pine Bend area.
