Fire department open house Oct. 13
The Rosemount Fire Department will show off some skills and provide the public insight during their annual open house.
The fire department will host its annual open house 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 13 at Fire Station #1, 14700 Shannon Parkway.
Fire chief Richard Schroeder said there is a lot of value in hosting the event annually. He said the open house and other community events foster a relationship between the fire department and residents.
“I would like to think that people who attend the open house walk away with a better understanding of what their local volunteer fire department does and the huge commitment that these firefighters give back to the community,” said Schroeder.
Education coordinator Tom Bigalk said the department has some fun activites planned and hope for a good turnout.
The event will include fun activities for kids and adults. For the kids there will be a bounce house, games and coloring. For adults there will be an air bag demonstration and a car fire simulation. Of interest to both because helicopters are cool, North Memorial will land one of their birds around 12:45 p.m.
Refreshments will be available. The event is free and open to the public.
The event is part of the nationally recognized Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is Prevent Kitchen Fires. According to the National Fire Protection Association more fires start in the kitchen than in any other part of the home.
