Build Lego robots at RES

Tuesdays in the garden

Every Tuesday during the summer the Dakota County Master Gardener's will host classes at the University of Minnesota Extension Garden, located at 1605 160th St. West.

Carolyn Harstad will give insider tips on the 8th on how to win blue ribbons at the fair. Cost of the class is $10.

Rosemount Farmer's Market

The Rosemount Farmer's Market will take place every Tuesday from June 24 through September 23 in the Community Center Parking lot. The market will be open from 2 to 6 p.m.

July 9

Blood drive

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at First Baptist Church, 14400 Diamond Path. The drive will go from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. All donors will receive a root beer float.

July 12

American Red Cross babysitting class

This class offers an opportunity for youth to prepare themselves for the responsibility of childcare. We'll be covering leadership, safety and safe play, basic care, and first aid. Participants receive a handbook and a certificate of class completion. Participants need to bring a bag lunch, doll, blanket, diaper, and baby bottle to the class. Class limit is 12 participants. The class will be held at the Rosemount Community Center and goes from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $65.

July 17

Senior showcase scheduled

The Dakota County Community Development Agency (CDA) will be holding its fifth Annual Senior Showcase on July 17, 2008 from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Senior Showcase gives the public an opportunity to take guided tours at each building, learn more about some of the affordable senior housing options available in Dakota County and learn about other senior services available in Dakota County.

Six of the CDA's senior housing developments will be open for tours including Rosemount's Cameo Place

These buildings are a part of the CDA's Senior Housing Development Program.

July 18

Puppets in the park

The parks and recreation department will hold its puppet in the park performances.

Performances will be in the following locations: Camfield Park 9:30 a.m., Connemara Park 10:15 a.m., Bloomfield Park 11 a.m. and Jaycee Park 11:45 a.m.

Wine tasting

A wine tasting will be held at the Rosemount Community Center from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will feature wines from around the world, live music and food.

Cost is $20 per person pre-sale and $25 per person at the door. For tickets call 952-432-4900.

Shamrock Film Festival

The Rosemount Area Arts Council will host its first film festival starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Rosemount Community Center.

Rods and Wrecks Car Show

A car show will be held at AAA Auto Salvage, 2871 160th Street West, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The show will feature classic cars. In addition the Rosemount Fire Department will do air bag safety and extrication demonstrations. There will also be car crusher demonstrations.

Admission to the event is free.

Rosemount Township sesquicentennial

Residents are encouraged to come out and help celebrate Rosemount Township's 150th at Central Park.

The day will begin with the dedication of a marker in the city's original business district at 1 p.m. A variety of events will follow including a Bluegrass festival, square dancing, art demonstrations, history presentations and food.

Movie in Central Park

The Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department will show the movie E.T. at dusk in the Central Park amphitheater.

Kids of all ages are invited to attend. Bring blankets and lawn chairs to sit on. Admission is free.
