American Red Cross Baby sitting class
This class offers an opportunity for youth to prepare themselves for the responsibility of childcare. The class will cover leadership, safety and safe play, basic care and first aid. Participants receive a handbook and a certificate of class completion. Participants need to bring a bag lunch, doll, blanket, diaper and baby bottle to the class. Class limit is 12 participants. The class will be held at the Rosemount Community Center and goes from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $65.
Tuesday evenings in the garden
Every Tuesday through the summer the Dakota County Master Gardeners will host a class at the University of Minnesota Research Gardens, 1605 160th St. West.
On the 15th, Mary Dalaska and Lisa Lukens will give instruction on how to build hypertufa containers. The class begins at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $25.
The Dakota County Community Development Agency will hold its fifth annual senior showcase on July 17, 2008 from 1 to 5 p.m.
The senior showcase gives the public an opportunity to take guided tours at each building, learn more about some of the affordable senior housing options available in Dakota County and learn about other senior services available in Dakota County.
Six of the CDA's senior housing developments will be open for tours, including Rosemount's Cameo Place.
These buildings are a part of the CDA's Senior Housing Development Program.

Puppets in the park
The parks and recreation department will hold its puppet in the park performances in the following locations: Camfield Park 9:30 a.m., Connemara Park 10:15 a.m., Bloomfield Park 11 a.m. and Jaycee Park 11:45 a.m.
A wine tasting will be held at the Rosemount Community Center from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will feature wines from around the world, live music and food.

Shamrock Film Festival
The Rosemount Area Arts Council will host its first film festival starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Rosemount Community Center.

Pancake breakfast will benefit RHS swim team
The Rosemount High School swim team will host a pancake breakfast at Applebee's Grill and Bar from 8 to 10 a.m. Cost is $6.
Rods and Wrecks Car Show
A car show will be held at AAA Auto Salvage, 2871 160th Street West, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The show will feature classic cars. In addition the Rosemount Fire Department will do air bag safety and extrication demonstrations. There will also be car crusher demonstrations.
Admission to the event is free.
Rosemount Township Sesquicentennial
Residents are encouraged to come out and help celebrate Rosemount Township's 150th at Central Park.
The day will begin with the dedication of a marker in the city's orginal business district at 1 p.m. A variety of events will follow including a Bluegrass festival, square dancing, art demonstrations, history presentations and food.
Movie in the Central Park
The parks and recreation department will show the movie E.T. at dusk in the Central Park ampitheatre. Kids of all ages are invited to attend.
Bring a blanket or a lawn chair to sit. Also bring snacks and beverages as concession will not be available. Admission is free.
Pets Fun Show
Fluegel's Farm Garden and Pet will host the show starting at 1 p.m. There are many prizes available. Register by calling 651-423-1587.
The Leprechaun Days Kiddie Parada starts with registration at 5:30 p.m. at the Rosemount American Legion. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. For more information call Donna at 952-985-0901.
Music in Central Park
The Splatter Sisters, a family friendly musical group, will perform in Central Park shortly after the conclusion of the Kiddie Parade.
