Dakota County's got talent entry deadline

The deadline to submit an entry to the Dakota County's Got Talent competition is 4 p.m. The competition is open to all amateur entertainers and groups.

Contestants should submit a $10 entry and a videotape or DVD of their family friendly act.

Acts selected to perform as semifinalists on Saturday, Sept. 13 during September Fest at Dakota County Technical College will be notified by Friday, Aug. 29.

Acts not selected for the Saturday semifinals will have their entry fee and video/DVD returned.

Entry forms should be sent to Erin Larsen at Dakota County Technical College, 1300 145th Street East Rosemount, MN 55068.

August 16

Rosemount High School reunion 1918-1964

A combined reunion will be held for the classedsof 1918 through 1964 at the Rosemount Community Center. Tours of the old school, now part of the Rosemount Middle School, will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Registration and a social will begin at 3 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. followed by a short program. Competition cheerleading

pancake breakfast

Please come support the Rosemount Competition Cheerleading Squad as they try to raise money for their nationals trip to Florida in February. They will be sponsoring an all you can eat pancake breakfast on Saturday August 16 at the Rosemount Applebee's from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $6

Irishettes car wash

The Rosemount High School Irishettes dance team will hold a fund-raiser car wash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 9 at Marathon in Rosemount.

Movie in Central Park

The Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department will show Shrek 3 for free at Central Park. The movie will begin at dusk. Movie-goers should bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on.

August 17

Empire entertainment

Empire Township will hold its summer entertainment series Sundays in July and August.

The Farmington High School marching band will perform Aug. 17.

Entertainment begins at 7 p.m. at Empire Town Hall.

August 19

Tuesday in the garden

Every Tuesday through the summer the Dakota County Master Gardeners will host a class at the University of Minnesota Research Gardens, 1605 160th St. West.

On the 19th, David Ziesak will give instruction on how to get the best performance from saved seeds. The class begins at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10.

August 22

Military retiree appreciation

Retirees from all branches of the armed forces and their family members are invited to attend a Retiree Appreciation Day at the Rosemount National Guard Armory and Community Center from 7:30 a.m to 2 p.m.

Retiree Appreciation Day is an opportunity for all armed forces retirees, spouses, widows and/or guests to receive updated information about retiree entitlement programs.

Registration is required. Space is limited to 350. All reservations beyond 350 will be returned. Cost for attendance is $5 and includes a continental breakfast. Registration forms must be received by Aug. 10. Mail registration forms to Retiree Appreciation Day, 10497 64th Lane NE, Albertville, MN 55301.

August 23

RHS girls hockey car wash

The Rosemount High School Girls Varsity Hockey team will hold a car wash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rosemount Goodyear. The girls will even vacuum out vehicles. Suggested donation for the car wash is $10

Cheerleading car wash

The Rosemount Competition Cheerleading Squad will host a car wash at the Ryan Real Estate building in Apple Valley on from 9:00 to 2:00. Ryan Real Estate is located across from Applebee's on Cedar Avenue. Please help the girls raise money for their nationals trip to Florida in February.

Tuesday in the garden

Every Tuesday through the summer the Dakota County Master Gardeners will host a class at the University of Minnesota Research Gardens, 1605 160th St. West.

On the 26th, Corinne Johnson and Roxanne Beseman will give instruction on how to attract the beautiful creatures. The class begins at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $10.

September 8

Troop 270 recruitment event

Rosemount Cub Scout Pack 270, serving students at Rosemount Elementary School, will hold a recruitment night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at RES. Boys entering first through fifth grades at RES are eligible to join. For more information, e-mail cubs270mn@yahoo.com.
