Editorial: Get informed and vote for school board Nov. 8
Rosemount residents have some choices to make Nov. 8.
On that day voters around the city will join voters from other parts of Independent School District 196 to fill four seats on the district's school board.
Well, some of them will. With no other major races on the ballot, it's unlikely turnout will be high.
That's unfortunate, because at a time when state funding is increasingly difficult to come by and other challenges are arising it is more important than ever to have the right people making the decisions about the direction the district will take.
It helps, obviously, that the district has an experienced administrative team that has demonstrated the ability to keep the things moving in the right direction. Still, it's important to have good leaders on the board.
To help Rosemount residents make their choice Nov. 8 we have provided some information on the seven candidates who will be on the ballot. We asked all seven the same questions, and we gave them each 650 words to answer. Their responses are printed on pages 10 and 11 of this edition.
We hope you'll take some time to read the candidates' responses. We hope you'll find any other information you need to make an informed choice. And we hope you go to the polls Nov. 8 and cast your vote.
