D.R. Horton development gets under way in Rosemount
Over the past few years house construction has been down significantly in Rosemount and neighboring communities. That's about to change.
D.R. Horton has started building its Prestwick Place neighborhood on the Eastern edge of the city. The model house, 14178 Abbeyfield Ave., has been finished and the company wants to show off what it has to offer. On March 8 the city will host a ribbon cutting at the house to celebrate the development.
Sales representative Catherine Kleve said D.R. Horton is excited to offer single-family homes in Rosemount. She said Rosemount is a good community and the company feels like it can do well here.
D.R. Horton is the largest home builder in the country. In Minnesota, the company also has housing developments in Lakeville and Minneapolis.
As the housing market picks up, Kleve said D.R. Horton aims to provide beautiful homes for a reasonable price. The three- and four bedroom houses in the development will run between $300,000 and $400,000. The company offers six different home layouts.
Kleve said the company offers amenities including hard wood floors, granite kitchen countertops and other items. Kleve said they will build houses to have stock but also will sell to-be-built homes as well.
So far Kleve said they have sold three houses in the development. When complete the Prestwick Place neighborhood will consist of 122 houses. The first phase will include construction of 28 houses.
Prestick Place is located off of Akron Avenue and County Road 42. Construction is under way to extend Connemara Trail to Akron Avenue. The completion of that project this summer will make the neighborhood more accessible.
"We are excited to be here. We did well in Lakeville and I think we will do well here too," said Kleve.
The model will be part of the Parade of Homes, which starts March 3. For more information about Prestwick Place visit www.drhorton.com or call 651-724-1276.
