District cuts summer physical exam clinics
District 196 will not offer physical examination clinics this summer, as it has in previous years, for students participating in athletics, cheerleading and danceline during the upcoming school year. The summer physical examination clinics were cut from the district's Health Services Department program as part of budget reductions approved for this year.
The Minnesota High School League requires middle school and high school students who participate in interscholastic athletic, cheerleading and danceline activities to have a physical examination at least once every three years. If you have a child who intends to participate in these activities in the coming school year and does not have a current physical on file at their school, contact their health care provider to schedule a physical examination or watch for information on exam clinics sponsored by area health clinics.
The completed physical exam form should be submitted to your child's school.
For more information on physical examination requirements, contact the school nurse at your child's school.
