District approves mass notification system
As one of the district's goals for this year, the board approved a recommendation Monday that Center Voice Technologies will provide a mass notification service to parents and staff.
The service will be used as a home contact service for emergency and non-emergency notifications via phone calls and e-mails. It will also handle daily absentee calls for the high schools, other scheduled notifications and distribution of non-emergency information at the school, district and program levels.
Center Voice Technologies was the lowest-cost respondent of the five providers to provide estimates. The cost for District 196 will be $2 per student, per year.
The service will provide the capacity for 75,000 contacts in 30 minutes or less in emergency notifications.
