District 57 GOP endorses Hall, Wills in state legislative races
Senate District 57 Republicans have chosen Pat Hall and Anna Wills to fill out its list of candidates for this year's elections. Both were endorsed on the first ballot at an endorsing convention that started at 8:30 Saturday morning at Rosemount Middle School.
Hall will face off against former Rosemount High School principal Greg Clausen for the District 57 Senate seat. Wills will face Rosemount resident Jeff Wilfahrt in District 57B.
Those two positions were still vacant after District 57 Republicans held their regular conventions last month. They had limited time to find candidates after current Senator Chris Gerlach announced his decision not to run and Representative Kurt Bills announced plans to run for US Senate.
Hall received the endorsement over Tim Gould.
"I am excited for the voters in SD 57 to get to know Pat," said district chair Pat Staley. "He is dynamic and engaging. He has extensive and diverse experience as a businessman, pastor and community leader."
Wills, the only candidate for the District 57B House seat, was endorsed by acclimation.
"Anna has proven herself to our delegates and is eager to do the same to the voters of District 57B," Staley said.
The convention also passed a resolution thanking, congratulating and commending the retiring Gerlach.
