DECA students head to nationals
Nine students from Rosemount High School had top four finishes at the Distributive Education Clubs of America state competition March 2-4 in Minneapolis.
Approximately 200 students competed in each business- and marketing-related event at the state competition and the top four finishers in each event qualified for the DECA International Career Development Conference May 3-6 in Atlanta.
Virginia Norder of Rosemount was a qualifier in two events, taking first in business finance services and second in economics and marketing.
Other qualifiers from Rosemount are Brady Drescher, third place, food marketing series; Kaitlyn Debaun and Anna Grausnick, third place, hospitality and services team event; Jennifer Wahl, third place, quick serve restaurant series; John Herron, third place, retail merchandising series; William Lai, fourth place, business finance services, and Megan Beasley and Carley Cook, fourth place, hospitality and services team event.
DECA is an international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality, and marketing sales and service.
RHS Speakers strong at Eagan competition
The Rosemount High School speech team had several award-winning finishes at a recent competition at Eagan High School.
Sawyer Murray took second in honors storytelling. Alekhya Tallapaka was third in honors prose and sixth in extemp speaking. Ryan Poehler was fifth in extemp reading. Nicole Hutchinson was sixth in honors humorous. Nnamdi Okori was sixth in JV storytelling and the team of Gwen Fairlie and Macie Riste was sixth in JV duo.
