Dancing their way to a kinder school
Rosemount Elementary School sent fifth graders on the school's second annual kindness retreat last Friday. Held by the group Youth Frontiers at Lighthouse Church the daylong program taught kids strategies to prevent bullying and to make sure everyone in the school is treated well.
"The idea was to really give them a day where they get to know each other. Where they have some fun and really develop some strategies to have healthy relationships with each other," said Kris Scallon, the school's instructional assistant.
The program seems to make a difference. Scallon was out at recess this week talking to students. When she asked one fifth grader what he thought of the school he said it had improved from a 3 last year to a 6 or 7 this year.
