The Rosemount cross country team prepared for the upcoming season by hosting its 18th-annual Alumni/Community Meet Friday night.

Seniors Alex Berhe and Liz Evenocheck each captured individual championships on the two-mile course around the Rosemount High School practice fields and through Carroll’s Woods Park. Berhe, an all-state finisher last fall, outdueled 2013 alum and South Dakota State runner Trevor Capra by a second with a time of 9 minutes, 50 seconds.

In the girls race, Evenocheck posted a margin of victory of 27 seconds with a time of 12:51 and led the Irish to the team title with a perfect team score of 15. Sydney Hansen placed second overall in 13:18 and fellow freshmen Sydney Regalado and Dani Follett-Dion followed in third and fourth, respectively. Varsity runners Natalie Narloch, Alli Peterson, Tess Grunklee and Anna Peterson rounded out the top eight.

Kaitlyn Feiock was the top community finisher in the women’s race with a ninth-place effort and ’03 graduate Lauren VanOverbeke was the top alumni finisher in 14th.

In the boys race, the alumni placed five runners in the top 10 and defeated the varsity for the 11th time in 18 years. Alumni runners Calvin Lehn and Nathan Rock came in 3-4 behind Capra and varsity runner Sam Ivanecky rounded out the top five with a time of 10:24.

Cody Sedbrook placed sixth and seniors Sam Karlson and Clayton Smith followed in seventh and eighth, respectively.

A total of 129 runners competed in the two races. 1999 graduate Aaron Sailer (34th, 13:51) competed in the event for the 18th straight year.

The Irish open the regular season with the 13th-annual Irish Invitational next Friday.
