CR 42 work will cause delays
Traveling down County Road 42 will be a bit of hassle in the weeks ahead.
On July 14, Dakota County will begin work to improve the road surface from Diamond Path to Highway 3. Crews will also rehabilitate .25 miles of 42 from Highway 52 to Highway 55.
“Expect delays and be patient,” said Ross Beckwith, Dakota County engineer.
The top several inches of existing pavement will be removed and replaced with new asphalt. Leading up to the surface improvements there will be work on pedestrian curb ramps, concrete repairs and minor utility adjustments.
Beckwith said the work should take roughly two weeks. During that time, drivers should expect some lane closures and delays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The overlay project is being done as part of the county’s pavement improvement plan. Countywide, Dakota County will rehabilitate approximately 13 miles of pavement in 2014.
Beckwith said the improvements will provide a smoother roadway for motorists and will extend the life of the road.
