Council approves license for new liquor store ... again
The Rosemount City Council approved a liquor license for Irish Liquors during their Nov. 16 meeting. The liquor store, which is owned by Zebadiah Frank, will be located in the former Quilter's Haven location at 14760 S. Robert Tr.
The council had approved a license once before for the store but because it has changed locations the council had to approve another license. Frank is finishing up work on the site, which will require an inspection by a building official so the license is contingent upon approval.
In other business the council approved the council approved the demolition of several buildings along South Robert Trail. The city will remove all structures and hard surfaces on the Genz Ryan property. Some blacktop will be kept near the southern curb for Master Transmission.
According to the staff memo the site will be maintained as lawn until development occurs on the site.
In addition a garage located on the north end of the Steeple Center parking lot, will be removed along with some concrete floor. Gravel will be installed instead.
Finally, the council approved a motion to acquire 27 acres of land to be used as a public park. The land, which is south of the Dakota County Technical College soccer fields, will be used as baseball and softball fields. The land is pre-dedicated park land in anticipation of development on the property.
The concept for the park calls for one large baseball field and a group of four softball/ baseball fields. The plan also calls for a large parking lot, batting cages, concession buildings, a storage garage, plaza and seating.
