Community ed director returns to ISD 196
Independent School District 196 has hired Jim Brandl to be the interim community education director for the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District.
Brandl actually got his start in community education in District 196 in 1975, as a coordinator. He left the district in 1980 to become the director of community education for the Wayzata Public Schools. Brandl recently retired from Wayzata after serving 28 years as director.
Brandl will start in the position July 14. He will replace Ram Singh, who retired in June after a 14-year career as community education director for District 196.
As interim director, Brandl will oversee all community education programs and manage the department's $9.3 million budget for 2008-09. He will also serve on the superintendent's administrative cabinet.
Brandl earned a bachelor's degree from St. John's University and has a master of science from Mankato State University.
