Youth raises $500
Alysha Grosz, 10, a home-schooled fifth-grader from Hudson, raised over $500 in free-will offerings at a piano concert last month in Hudson. She donated the money to Feed My Starving Children. The amount collected should be enough to provide meals for approximately 10 children for a year.
Car show is Friday
The Locust Street Car Show is Friday, July 11. The summer event is scheduled the second Friday of the month along Locust Street between Second and Third streets. It is open to the public, and anyone with a classic car to show off is welcome (enter Locust Street from Third Street). Visitor parking is available on side streets and in city lots. Sharing Tree is back
The Sharing Tree program helps provide school supplies to students in need in kindergarten through grade 12 attending schools in the Hudson School District. To register a student, families may pick up applications from the food shelf at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1500 Vine St. in Hudson or at the Family and Children's Unit of the St. Croix County Department of Health and Human Services, 1445 N. Park has class Thursday morning
A class on bison is scheduled from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, July 10, for youth entering kindergarten and first grade, at Willow River State Park, 1034 County A. Participants may examine a pelt and skull and learn about the role bison played in the life of Native Americans. Cost is $10. Vehicle admission rules apply to all vehicles entering the park. Medica's Center for Healthy Aging will hold a free informational meeting about Medicare and the health plan options available to seniors at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Hudson Hospital, 405 Stageline Road. Volunteer at camp
Volunteers are needed at YMCA Camp St. Croix, 532 County F, to serve in the camp store assisting campers with purchases and to help with outdoor maintenance (assisting in clearing trails, gardens, splitting campfire wood). TFC pancake breakfast set
The public is invited to a pancake breakfast this Sunday, July 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Teens for Christ Ministry Center, 538 Old Hwy. 35 S., Hudson. A free will offering will benefit the youth clubs meeting throughout the region, including Hammond, River Falls, Hudson, Ellsworth, Stillwater, Minn., Lakeland, Minn., New Richmond and others.
