Boys soccer: Irish improve to 5-0 away from SSC
Any break from its tough South Suburban Conference schedule is a welcome sight for the Rosemount boys soccer team.
The Irish, after losing a pair of one-goal games to conference foes Lakeville North and Prior Lake last week, regained some confidence with a 3-0 shutout of Hastings Saturday at Irish Stadium. The victory improved coach Mike Floersch's team to 5-0 with four shutouts in non-conference games this season.
Kohl Sparrman supplied two of the goals and Biruk Tefera scored once. Trevor Reis provided two assists and Brandon Hubbard had one.
Royal Roark went the distance in the net to pick up the shutout.
Sparrman also scored the team's lone goal in Thursday's 2-1 overtime loss to Prior Lake. He found the net on a header after a throw-in by Reis late in the second half.
After three straight home games, the Irish are back on the road this week. They traveled to seventh-ranked (Class 2A) Bloomington Jefferson Tuesday and head to Eagan tonight.
