Boys golf: Slipping toward the end
Last season, the Rosemount boys golf team started slow and finished with a flurry.
Irish coach Greg Gamache is now seeing the exact opposite this season.
"Overall I am really disappointed with our returning senior letter winners," Gamache said. "After a good start to the season, their scores have all been in the mid to high 80s and steadily rising."
It's created an opportunity for the younger golfers. Gamache has been substituting sophomores and freshmen into the lineup.
"Our team scores were actually better with the younger players," Gamache said. "So at this point, I'm not really sure what to do for team sections."
The Irish opened the season with a combined 308. They've also posted scores of 309 and 311 earlier.
On Monday, Rosemount shot a combined 332 at Valleywood in a Lake Conference meet. Last week it was a 329 at Inverwoods.
Sam Reber shot a 71 at Inverwoods and a 79 at Valleywood.
Eric Frahm finished with an 84 last week and an 85 on Monday. Alex Speer followed a round of 89 with an 82 on Monday.
Charlie Frahm shot an 86 at Valleywood to figure into the scoring and Josh Doyle's 85 last week was part of the team scoring.
