The start of his first season hasn't been easy for new Rosemount boys golf coach Kyle Frederickson.

The weather delayed the start of the season and offered challenges in regard to practice and competition time.

Frederickson tried to speed the adjustment time for himself and the Irish.

Now Rosemount is trying to speed its adjustment to the 2011 spring season.

Through the first three weeks, the Irish have yet to hit their stride.

Last week, Rosemount placed 18th at the 23-team Tri-State Invitational at Edinburgh USA Golf Course. The Irish finished with a combined 706 total in the two-day tournament. They shot a 344 on the first day and followed with a 362 the second day.

On Monday, Rosemount finished 18th again in a 19-team tournament at the Hastings Country Club by shooting a 360.

The Irish competed shorthanded on Monday with only five golfers playing.

Sam Reber led Rosemount with an 84.

Josh Doyle had an 88, but the Irish couldn't back up the scores of its top two in the lineup.

Ryan Sword and Travis Parker each had 94s and Nick Gould shot a 103.

The first day at Edinburgh showed the potential Rosemount might hold, but inconsistency has hurt the team.

Reber shot an 82 the first day and had an 85 the second day.

Doyle was the team's most consistent golfer at Edinburgh. Doyle carded an 88 the first day and followed with an 87 on the second day.

Charlie Frahm was in the Irish lineup for the Tri-State Invitational. Frahm started with an 86 and finished with a 91.

Sword shot an 88 the first day, but struggled to a 99 on the second day.

Patrick Flynn carded a 105 on the first day and followed with a 108 on the second day of competition.

Rosemount is scheduled to compete at Emerald Greens on Saturday.
