Boys golf: Irish second at Dakota meet
The Rosemount boys golf team put all four of its counting scorers in the 70s while placing second out of nine teams at the Dakota County Invitational Saturday at Emerald Greens Golf Course.
The Irish totaled 309, one stroke behind meet champion Eagan’s 308. Farmington placed seventh despite shooting a season-best 327.
Jake Sweetman once again led the Irish, carding a 74 for 18 holes. Cody Schultz and Alex Trana each followed with rounds of 78 and Andy Glad turned in a 79. David Booke (88) and Danny Eul (89) completed the varsity lineup.
Sam Newcomb paced Farmington with a season-best round of 79. Teammate Jake Jenson was right behind with an 80. Tyler VanWinkle provided a season-best round 0f 83 and Lucas Berg rounded out the top four with an 85.
Isaac Ferm added an 87 and Darby Grengs shot an 88.
The Tigers continue their busy schedule with three meets this week.
The Irish were back in action Monday and placed ninth out of 10 teams with a 334 in their South Suburban Conference meet at Brackett’s Crossing.
Sweetman set the pace with a round of 77. Schultz followed with an 80, Austin Dollimer shot an 86 and Trana turned in an 88.
Glad added an 89 and Eul had a 91.
Cole Zielke led the Irish JV with an 84.
