Bond refunding could save Rosemount district $1 million
The District 196 School Board approved a bond refunding last week that is expected to save the district $1.3 million over the next 10 years.
School board members voted at a March 21 workshop meeting to give finance director Jeff Solomon approval to pursue the refunding. The district considered the refunding last December but chose to wait. The savings have gone down slightly since then. The number could go back up if the district chose to wait, but Solomon and the district's budget advisory committee recommended the district move ahead now.
"They really felt a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush waiting," Solomon said. "It's a savings the BAC believes is worth moving forward with and I do, too."
