Body found in Vermillion River identified
The Dakota County Coroner's Office has confirmed the identity of the man recovered from the Vermillion River on Monday, May 26 as Edward James Carlson, 45, of Hastings.
According to Dakota County Chief Deputy Sheriff Dave Bellows, Carlson had been reported as a missing person to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office on May 22. The Sheriff's Office is awaiting the Coroner's report on the cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.
The Sheriff's Office recovered Carlson's body from the back waters of the Vermillion River in Ravenna Township near County Road 54.
According to Bellows, fishermen made the discovery at 4:18 p.m. near a public boat access also referred to as DuShane's Landing. The body appeared to have been in the water for several days. The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
