Black Sox: Team powers past Aces, 13-5
The Rosemount Black Sox bats came alive late in last Wednesday's game in Lonsdale.
The Sox plated 10 runs over the final three innings as they pulled away for a 13-5 rout of the Aces. The team is now 11-9, including a 6-1 mark when scoring 10 or more runs.
Leadoff hitter Brady Loew stayed hot at the plate with four more hits and three runs scored, upping his average to a team-best .413 in 75 at bats this summer. Jon Bishop added three hits, three RBI and his team-leading fifth home run out of the clean-up spot and Matt Foley belted his first home run of the season and drove in three.
Jordan Buck drove in a team-high four runs and contributed two hits to the team's 15-hit attack. Eric Hendricks and Michael Robohm each scored twice.
The Sox scored two runs in the top of the first, but were held scoreless over the next four innings. The Aces briefly tied the score with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth before the Sox pushed one across in the top of the sixth to take the lead for good.
The visitors then pulled away with four runs in the seventh, three in the eighth and three more in the ninth.
Lance Anderson started on the mound and picked up the win, holding the Aces to three earned runs while striking out four over six innings. Hendricks pitched a pair of scoreless innings before allowing two unearned runs in the ninth.
