Black Sox: Team improves record with win over Rochester
Lance Anderson notched four hits, including a fifth-inning home run, and Eric Hendricks provided another quality start as the Rosemount Black Sox improved their record to 4-5 with a 7-2 win over the Rochester Royals last Wednesday at Mayo Field.
"We came in and got some good pitching and tattooed their pitchers pretty well," Anderson said.
Hendricks held the Royals to single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and struck out five over seven innings. Andrew Nelson came in to start the eighth and posted two shutout innings of relief.
The Black Sox took the lead with a pair of runs in the second. Anderson reached on an error to start the frame and moved into scoring position on a single by Darren McEathron. Another Rochester miscue loaded the bases and Nelson followed with a two-run single.
Three more runs came home in the fourth on a Brady Loew RBI single and a Jason Kirschman sacrifice fly.
Loew finished with a pair of hits.
Anderson went deep for the first time this season in the fifth and drove home Jon Bishop with a double in the ninth.
The Black Sox travel to Prior Lake tonight and host the Lakeville Athletics for a doubleheader Sunday afternoon beginning at 2 p.m. The two teams were rained out last Sunday in Lakeville.
