Black Sox put on their hitting shoes
The bats were out in full force for the Rosemount Black Sox during the past week.
Rosemount defeated Owatonna, 11-3, while pounding out 13 hits, and followed up that victory with an 8-4 win over Lakeville.
"We've been hitting the ball pretty well," player/manager Matt Tschida said. "No one has stood out too much. We've basically done it as a team."
Against the Owatonna Aces, Rosemount got a three-hit performance from Tschida, who also scored four runs and drove in two more.
Dylon Eisele hit a home run and drove in six runs for the Black Sox.
"It was a pretty big home run after Owatonna had made it a 4-3 game," Tschida said.
Dave Molde had two hits and scored three times.
Lance Anderson picked up another win on the mound for Rosemount, tossing six innings and allowing three runs. He was relieved by Tim Radmacher and Eisele, who combined for three shutout innings.
"He (Anderson) kind of ran out of gas in the seventh," Tschida said. "We had to have Tim get out of a mess in the seventh, and Dylon closed it out."
Against Lakeville, the Black Sox scored four runs in the first inning and never lost the lead in the four-run victory.
Anderson had two hits, including a home run for the Black Sox. Jason Kirschman had a pair of hits, including a double, and Mark Radmacher had a pair of doubles and two RBI.
Loren Sjoquist had two hits and was hit by a pitch twice.
"We are pretty balanced throughout the lineup," Tschida said. "It is a pretty good lineup for us when everyone is there."
Eisele started on the mound and pitched the first three innings. He gave up two earned runs and walked four.
Bryan Poland came in to relieve Eisele, and tossed four innings to pick up the win. Matt Doornink picked up the save by pitching the final two innings.
"We are still playing pretty well," Tschida said. "We've got some pretty good pitching depth. We'll have a pretty good shot once playoff time comes around."
While the prior week was a light one for the Black Sox, several players participated in the mid-season all-star game.
The Cannon Valley League battled the Classic Cannon Valley League in the all-star contest.
