The Pipers opened Friday night's meeting with Woodbury by completing a game that was called due to weather with the score tied at 2-2 back in late June. Woodbury won the make-up game with a run in the seventh inning, but didn't score the rest of the night as Dan Hegberg tossed a four-hit shutout in a 3-0 Pipers victory in Game 2.

Craig Liebaert, Jason Schwab and Bobby Downs each supplied two of the Pipers' 10 hits.

Sunday's split doubleheader played out in similar fashion. The Pipers lost 4-2 to the Watertown Mudcats in the afternoon before coming back for a 5-4 win over the St. Paul JTs at Dakota County Technical College.

Hegberg and Schwab each had two of the team's eight hits in the Game 1 loss.

Against St. Paul, Jay Yess made his first mound start since his days at Henry Sibley High School in the late 80s. He had a tough start, walking a pair and allowing three runs in the first, but settled in and lasted six innings to pick up the win. Yess also helped himself at the plate with two hits and three RBI.

The Pipers had 14 hits in all, including three from Sean Boos and two apiece from Yess, Hegberg, Schwab and Ken Fry.

The Pipers travel to Big Willow to face the Minntonka Lakers tomorrow night before closing out the regular season with a home game against St. Paul's Finest Sunday at 3 o'clock at DCTC.
