Baseball: Offense not there for Irish
The Minnesota Twins' offense hasn't been the same without No. 3 hitter Joe Mauer.
The Rosemount baseball team can sympathize.
Rosemount lost its No. 3 hitter, and senior captain, Brett Thaden for the season due to an elbow injury.
Like the Twins, the Irish offense has taken a bit of time to come around.
"We're really struggling at the plate," Rosemount coach Trevor Monroe said. "On the positive side, the kids are continually showing up and practicing and getting their work in. They aren't hanging their heads. It's early. We're hoping with hard work and putting out a full effort, we will show improvement and get better as the season progresses."
Rosemount (3-4, 3-3 Lake) lost to Chaska, 4-1, last week, and then suffered a 7-0 loss to preseason No. 2 Eden Prairie on Monday night at the Metrodome.
