Baseball: Irish swept by North, Apple Valley
The Rosemount baseball team couldn't get the offense it needed to avoid a doubleheader sweep at the hands of visiting Apple Valley Monday afternoon.
The Irish had 12 hits in Game 1, but couldn't add on to their early 3-0 lead as the Eagles rallied for three runs in the sixth and won the game with a go-ahead single in the top of the 11th. Anthony Winters had three hits in Game 2, but the rest of the lineup combined to go 1 for 23 and strike out 10 times in a 3-1 setback.
The Irish were also swept 9-6 and 11-0 Friday at Lakeville North, leaving them 8-10 overall and 8-9 in the South Suburban Conference heading into the final game of the regular season, which was Tuesday at Lakeville North. The Section 3AAA tournament begins tomorrow.
