AUAR for CR 42 and Akron Avenue available for review
The city of Rosemount is currently taking comments on the Alternative Urban Area Review for County Road 42 and Akron Avenue. The city originally adopted the environmental document in 2007.
An AUAR anticipates the impact of development in an area and how cities can mitigate those impacts.
The area within the AUAR has been mostly labeled residential. Currently there are two developments going up in the area: Prestwick Place Second addition, which includes 29 lots, and Prestwick Place Third Addition, which includes 27 lots. Additionally, Connemara Trail is being extended to Akron Avenue. The project should be completed sometime in the summer of 2012.
As required by law the city is required to update the document every five years. City planner Eric Zweber said slow development means that not much has changed and the city is simply following state procedure in updating the document. The update will extend the AUAR through 2017.
"We are waiting for development to happen," said Zweber.
As part of state statute the city must have a 30-day review period. The document will be available for public review through March 7.
The document can be reviewed at city hall, 2875 145th St. W. or on the city's website at www.ci.rosemount.mn.us. Comments should be submitted to Zweber before March 7.
