American Legion: Struggles persist for Post 65

Monday night's loss to Lakeville North reminded Rosemount Legion Post 65 coach Scott Eul of many of his team's other setbacks during its 1-11 start to the season.

Rosemount stuck around for a while, but the offense never got going and the defense eventually faltered in an 8-1 final at Lakeville North.

"They got a few hits and there were a few plays we should have made where we got a little lazy. We couldn't finish out the game. That's what's been happening to us lately," Eul said. "We play a good first few innings, but we aren't finishing on a positive note. Games are slipping away from us."

Lakeville North led just 3-1 before chasing starter Morris Valenzuela with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Danny Farris came in to get the final two outs.

"Morris threw a very good game. Even when he got pulled it was after a few weak base hits and a few defensive lapses our team made," Eul said. "He battled, but you can't expect a shutout. That's what our offense is counting on right now."

Post 65 managed just two hits in the contest, a third-inning single by Sam Bauer and an RBI double by Jordan Turner that brought in Bryan Herman in the top of the sixth.

Rosemount hosted Lakeville South Tuesday, played a doubleheader at Apple Valley Wednesday and will play at least five games in the Gopher Classic this weekend.
