American Legion Post 65 honors members
Rosemount American Legion Post 65 past commander Bob Racette was named Legionnaire of the Year during a March 22 awards ceremony at the post.
Volunteer of the Year awards were also presented to David and Jane Haukom, Dave Scott and Debbie Strese.
Members with significant milestones in membership were also honored Saturday.
Thomas Buckley was honored for 60 years of continuous membership in the American Legion. Richard Curry, David Haukom and Donald Varey were honored for 50 years of membership.
Ritha Lucking, Ray McNamara, Dennis Ozment, and Rex Radford were recognized for 45 years of membership, and Carl Dahlberg, Darryll Hotvedt, Rudolph Olson and Marlin Sachs were honored for 40 years of membership.
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 65 also recognized two of its longtime members. Joan Tompkin was recognized for 50 years of membership in the American Legion Auxiliary, and Bev Warweg was honored for 60 years as a member.
The awards were given as part of the 95th birthday celebration for the American Legion, which was established in 1919. The American Legion Family is the largest veterans service organization in the United States.
