Two-hundred and eighty-four runners participated in the 27th-annual Run for the Gold Saturday morning outside the Rosemount Community Center.


2012 Rosemount graduate and current St. Olaf College distance runner Calvin Lehn won the title in the feature four-mile race, covering the winding course in 20 minutes, 34 seconds to top the field of 183 runners. He bettered his time from a year ago when he ran 22:05 to place third.

Lehn's former teammate, recent Rosemount graduate Trevor Capra, took second in 20:53, and another former Irish standout, Chandler Dye, was third in 21:05.

Mike Bumgarner once again finished among the leaders with a fourth-place time of 21:20. Current Irish runners Alex Berhe and Ryan Condon followed in fifth and sixth with times of 22:02 and 23:03, respectively.

Chris Mergens of Farmington claimed seventh in 23:17 and recent Tiger graduate Adam Wallenta placed eighth in 24:05. Rudy Regalado of Rosemount won his age group and placed ninth overall in 24:07 and Farmington 2013 all-state relay runner Tyler Lerbakken rounded out the top 10 with a time of 24:21.

Briana Cleveland finished first out of 97 women in the four-mile race with a time of 28:12. Runner-up Theresa Kavaras of Lakeville was close behind in 28:29 and Irish state cross country qualifier Liz Evenocheck was third in 28:42.

The one-mile race was won by Jason Schultz of Lakeville in a time of 5:10. The next three finishers were all from Rosemount: Paul Sampers, Dan Sampers and Melvin Alvarez.

JoJo Acker-Hintgen of Burnsville was the top women's finisher in 6:29. Tess Grunklee of Rosemount was second in 6:41 and Olivia Passeri was third in 6:51.
