Veteran-owned business starting up in Rosemount

Jason Anderson has started Rich Valley Lawn Care.

Since he left the National Guard a couple years ago, Jason Anderson has been trying to decide what to do with his future. After pondering it for a while he has decided to become a business owner.

This spring, Anderson started Rich Valley Lawn Care.

Anderson served in the Army National Guard for 15 years and served two deployments in Iraq. Family commitments led him to retire in 2010. He's going to school for business management, but the father of three still needs to bring in some income.

Anderson worked as a mechanic in the Army, but the skills he used there don't necessarily translate to the civilian world. Plus, he doesn't really like the work that much.

His cousin, who runs a similar lawn care business in Michigan, suggested Anderson start a business. Anderson wasn't sure at first, but after working other jobs decided it was the way to go.

"I like being outside, and its enjoyable work," said Anderson.

Anderson also said running his own business will allow him to ensure customer satisfaction. Anderson will offer a range of services including mowing, trimming, edging, aeration in the fall, bush and hedge trimming, dethatching and weeding.

Going forward, Anderson hopes the business will grow enough that he can hire some help. For now, though, it's just him and his equipment.

Anderson has lived in the Rosemount area most of his life. He is a 1992 Rosemount High School graduate. He and his wife, Stacy, have three children, four dogs and the toughest cat in town.

Anderson said he's looking forward to serving his neighbors.
