The Yarn Garage will participate in annual food drive
Hundreds of knitting and crocheting enthusiasts are expected to bring a non-perishable food item to The Yarn Garage in Rosemount as part of "Yarn Around the World 2012" from April 12-15.
The shop hop -- in its sixth year -- is an event popularized in craft circles where participants tour/shop a series of retailers in a geographic area during a limited period of time. The four-day event includes 14 Twin Cities Metro area locally owned, independent yarn shops.
Shoppers at The Yarn Garage donating a nonperishable food item or $5 at each shop will -- while supplies last -- receive a unique, collectible charm symbolizing the countries of South Africa and Germany to commemorate participation in this year's event. Food items will be donated to the Emergency Foodshelf Network that serves over 2 million individuals each year.
"As a business with connections in the community, we've seen friends and neighbors impacted by the economy," notes Steven Berg, owner of The Yarn Garage. "Collecting contributions for Food Shelf Name as part of the Yarn Around the World 2012 event is a fun way that we all can demonstrate support the community."
Visitors to The Yarn Garage also may enter for opportunities to win prizes up to $2,000. Visit the minnesotayarnshophop.com/ for rules and additional details.
