Anytime Fitness: Open for business ... again

Amanda Peterson found her calling early in life. In her early 20s she started working for health and wellness companies and found she had a gift for the business.

"I really found my niche in helping people get healthy," said Peterson.

After going to Alabama to get her business degree, she moved back to Minnesota to further her career. At the age of 28 she's now the owner of Anytime Fitness in Rosemount. The fitness center will open today.

The Rosemount Anytime has been in limbo since it closed last September. Peterson isn't sure why it closed. But she's confident she can make it work this time around.

So far Peterson said a lot of people have showed interest in the club. She has already had nearly 100 people sign up for memberships.

Located in Rosemount Crossing, Peterson said the club is in an ideal spot. It's close to other shopping and is centrally located.

Peterson said when most people chose a workout facility their biggest concerns are usually accessibility and cleanliness. Anytime offers both. Members can work out in a clean environment 24 hours a day.

"We want people to feel like it's their second home," said Peterson.

Since taking over the Rosemount location Peterson has gone through and given the space a facelift including redecorating the inside and getting brand new workout equipment.

The facility offers a variety of fitness equipment including cardio machines, circuit training and free weights. Peterson said each cardio machine will be equipped with its own television.

The weights range in size from two pounds for toning to 100 pounds for those who are a little more serious about their weightlifting ventures.

The Rosemount Anytime also will feature a new up and coming technology called Fitness on Request. Members can take fitness classes through a virtual instructor in a private room 24 hours a day. A full screen comes down from the ceiling and members can chose what class they want to take and at what level.

The program offers a full range of classes including yoga, pilates, cardio kickboxing and more.

"It's really great," Peterson said of the technology. "It's one of those things where you think. 'Why didn't I think of that?'"

For those who want some help Peterson said they will have personal trainers. Tanning also will be available to members.

Anytime Fitness, in Rosemount, will open today. The center will be staffed from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments can also be made.
